Digital Illustration‘Joker’ No Laughing Matter, Student Project: Magazine Layout and Illustration

For this project, I selected the New York Times as the magazine to work with, conducting in-depth research on its style, audience, and content. After understanding the magazine’s tone and purpose, I identified an article that aligned well with its brand.

The next step involved designing a layout for both web and print, creating a cohesive three-page spread. To ensure variety and flexibility, I developed a total of 18 possible page layouts. Each layout included custom illustrations designed to enhance the narrative and make the article more visually engaging.

All illustrations were drawn in Adobe Fresco, as I was required to create original artwork and was prohibited from using external images. This project allowed me to showcase my skills in layout design, storytelling through visuals, and illustration while adhering to strict project guidelines.
